Release: Baltimore Regional Water Taskforce Receives Draft Report, Encourages Public Input

Baltimore – The Baltimore Regional Water Governance Task Force (BRWTF), established under House Bill 843 (HB843), is pleased to announce that it has received the draft report from WSP, the consultants for this task force. This significant milestone marks a critical juncture in the Task Force's efforts to study and recommend the best-suited governance model for drinking water and wastewater supply and treatment in the Baltimore region. It can be found on both the City’s and Baltimore County’s websites.
The draft report is available for public comment now and will remain open until 5pm EST on January 5, 2024.

Taskforce Chair Baltimore City Comptroller Bill Henry emphasizes that the received report is a draft and not the BRWTF 's final recommendations. Feedback is encouraged from all residents and stakeholders to ensure a thorough and inclusive decision-making process.

Starting in September 2024, the Task Force held a series of public meetings to opienly deliberate on alternative governance models. Following the release of this draft report, an additional meeting will be held to discuss the findings and invite additional public input. This meeting will take place on January 8th at 6pm via Zoom. Full details will be posted on the City and Baltimore County’s websites.
WSP will incorporate feedback from the BRWTF and public in the final draft report. It will be posted online and become part of the agenda for discussion and final adoption during last meeting of the BWRTF on January 25, 2024.
